Patriotic Piece

Always will be there. Acrylic paint on Canvas board. 2017

My Dad, a former marine, is a great man. I have always looked up to him in a way that a daughter could understand. For my idea for this piece was to honor him in a way. I am no Picasso at painting faces what so ever, but i wanted to try and see if i could make it look as close as i can to him. He is proud that I have tried. After thinking of honoring him i needed to think of what other image I could tell people. He always liked puzzles and he always did puzzles with me. This piece can speak a lot to people. For me, it just reminds me of when i was little. For other people, when they look at it, they might think a child has left their puzzle on a picture of a marine. Perhaps, it was their father who fought, or many more ideas.

The Pawful Truth. Mixed Media. 2019 Once again, I have created an art piece of my cat, Jasper. I painted him first with a spatula to give him a texture. Then, I turned the canvas upside down and painted detail of my cat. I don't have an explanation for why I putting the newspaper around the cat, I had a different idea in my head before I started to paint.
Cup Full. Porcelain Clay with Glaze. 2019 As I made this piece I incorporated my love for leaves and make the cup have a 3-D effect with the leaves. I slashed little lines in the cup to give the cup some texture and a worn type of look to the piece. Instead of making the cup have a plain and common handle, I decided to give the cup a unique handle for it to stand out .
Staying Beautiful. Linocut. 2018.  For my piece Staying Beautiful, I challenged myself to create something out of my comfort zone. I wanted to take a risk and do a linocut print with one of my dawnings in my sketchbook. I wanted to communicate simplicity and just a reminder of the little beautiful things in life.
