Stretched hands (soft pastels)

Stretched hands. Soft Pastels on Paper. 2016.

As I was thinking of ideas for soft pastels, I kept looking at the features in my hand and how they interested me. I had remembered I had taken a photo of my hand holding a rock in the summer time. My idea of the artwork was that life could be hard, like a rock. Someone out there will have their hands stretched to help another through a rock and a hard place. Hands fascinate me. I like the fact that are just tiny little figures sticking out of a bigger figure that controls a lot of things in your life.

Memories Live On. Pencil and Charcoal. 2020

Memories Live On. Pencil and Charcoal. 2020 For the last patriotic piece of my high school career, I decided to create a pencil drawing portraying a girl holding a metal marine button. I enjoy playing some of my family history into my art pieces so, that's exactly what I did for this piece. For the little girl portrayed in the drawing, I used one of Lee Jeffries photographs. I chose his photographs because of the way the people portrayed such great emotion in each photo. The whole piece is supposed to symbolize children of lost soldiers having a piece of remembrance of their father or mother. Since my father was a marine for several years, this piece has some significance to me since she is the daughter of a marine.
The Pawful Truth. Mixed Media. 2019 Once again, I have created an art piece of my cat, Jasper. I painted him first with a spatula to give him a texture. Then, I turned the canvas upside down and painted detail of my cat. I don't have an explanation for why I putting the newspaper around the cat, I had a different idea in my head before I started to paint.
